Overview
Doctrine of God
God the eternal Spirit was active with the Father and the Son in Creation, incarnation, and redemption.
He is as much a person as are the Father and the Son. He inspired the writers of Scripture. He filled Christ’s life with power. He draws and convicts human beings; and those who respond He renews and transforms into the image of God.
Sent by the Father and the Son to be always with His children, He extends spiritual gifts to the church, empowers it to bear witness to Christ, and in harmony with the Scriptures leads it into all truth.
Requirements
1. Understand how the Bible describes the Holy Spirit as one of the three distinct persons of the Trinity. (2 Corinthians 13:14; Matthew 28:19; John 16:14-15)
2. Learn whether or not the Holy Spirit participated in the creation of the world. (Genesis 1:1-2)
3. Define how early Christians identified the Holy Spirit as a distinct person in the Godhead. (Acts 5:3; 13:2; 15:28)
4. Learn the promise made by Jesus in John 14:16-17.
5. Explain the mission of the Holy Spirit in the work of saving people. (John 16:7-11)
6. Memorize and recite Galatians 5:22-23.
7. Share with a friend what a person must do to receive the Holy Spirit. (Acts 5:32)
