Overview
This honor provides a broad introduction to aviation—covering aircraft design, classification, operations, history, safety systems, and future developments, while also connecting flight imagery to a Biblical message of hope and strength.
Requirements
1. What is an airplane? What distinguishes it from other aircraft?
2. Describe the history of the airplane’s invention.
3. Name the main components of an aircraft.
4. Classification of aircraft by purpose.
5. Classification of aircraft by takeoff weight.
6. Classification of aircraft by control method.
7. Classification of aircraft by the number of wings.
8. Classification of aircraft by wing configuration.
9. Classification of aircraft by tail configuration.
10. Classification of aircraft by landing gear type.
11. Classification of aircraft by speed.
12. Classification by takeoff and landing type.
13. List the aircraft’s flight crew and their duties.
14. List the requirements for flight crew members.
15. List the various types of ground crew in aviation and their duties.
16. Explain why planes leave white trails in the sky.
17. Explain what a “black box” is and what its purpose is.
18. Talk about the aircraft of the future.
19. Memorize the Biblical verse Isaiah 40:31.
