Bible Discovery I - Advanced

Overview

This honor fulfills the “Spiritual Experiences” requirements for the General Conference Friend Achievement Class. It covers the stories and truths told in the Old Testament narratives found in the books of Genesis - Ruth (Patriarchs, Exodus, Promised Land, Joshua, Judges, Ruth).

Requirements

1. Earn the Bible Discovery I honor.

2. Read and discuss one of the following brief passages, or its equivalent, from Ellen White’s book Patriarchs and Prophets or an equivalent selection from other Christian authors.

a. “The Creation,” pages 44-46 (Doctrine of Literal Creation)
b. “The Plan of Redemption,” pages 63-66 (Doctrine of Salvation)
c. “The Test of Faith,” pages 145-155 (Foreshadowing the Cross/A Call to Faithfulness)
d. “The Last Words of Joshua,” pages 521-524 (A Call to Faithfulness)

3. Choose one important Bible topic from the list below. Make a simple list showing: (1) what the topic is about, (2) what God’s ideal is for it, and (3) how God is involved, using examples from the Bible stories you’ve studied in this honor.

a. The Nature of Humanity (Sin)
b. The Great Controversy
c. The Law of God & The Sabbath
d. Marriage and the Family

4. Create a Trivia style game, or other interactive project that demonstrates what you have learned in the Bible Discovery I and Advanced honors.
