Geysers
Overview
Geysers are awesome because they are spectacular natural phenomena that shoot hot water and steam high into the air. They are rare and require specific conditions to form, such as a heat source, water supply, and a unique plumbing system. Geysers provide valuable scientific insights into the Earth’s geothermal activity and offer a glimpse into the Earth’s inner workings.
Requirements
1. How many times and where are geysers (fountains) mentioned in the Bible (give chapter and verse)?
2. How many types of geysers are there? List the types.
3. Where can you find most of the world’s geysers?
4. Draw a diagram of at least one type of geyser (on a separate sheet of paper).
5. What three things does a geyser need to form?
6. The vents that release steam smelling like rotten eggs from geysers and hot springs are called what?
7. Describe the difference between a geyser and a hot spring.
8. Draw, photograph or find a picture of a geyser that you have seen, list where you found it (on a separate sheet of paper).
9. Describe what a thermophile is.
10. Discuss with your class/counselor some of the safety rules for exploring areas with geysers.
11. Visit and draw or take a picture of at least two of the following geysers:
