Overview
Do you know what heraldry is? Learn why, when and how heraldry came into existence. Learn what colors are used in heraldry and the rules on their application. Learn of the use of animals and fabulous creatures that are used in heraldry and for what they stand. Have the fun of creating your own coat of arms.
Please note: This honor is based upon the British model for heraldry. Whilst the rules are similar with other countries, those of other countries who wish to undertake this honor should check the rules as they apply in their country of residence.
Requirements
1. How did heraldry begin?
2. What is the heraldic code?
3. What are the colors of heraldry and patterns of heraldry and what are the rules in their application?
4. What are the qualities/values represented by the tinctures/colors and furs?
5. What are heraldic ordinaries and give examples.
6. What led to the introduction of the graphical charges?
7. How were the animal charges displayed?
8. List six animals and the qualities they symbolize associated with heraldry.
9. What led to the introduction of fabulous beasts into heraldry and for what do they stand?
10. Using the knowledge gained in this honor, create your own field of arms.
