Kumihimo
Overview
This honor teaches you a traditional textile art through history, construction, skill-building, creativity, and reflection, showing how a simple braiding technique can carry both practical and symbolic meaning.
Requirements
1. Explain what kumihimo is and how it originated.
2. List the materials needed for the kumihimo technique.
3. Make a loom for round kumihimo and for flat kumihimo.
4. Create the following types of kumihimo:
*** Square – 1 pc.
- Round – 3 pcs.
- Flat – 3 pcs.**
5. Describe the modern-day uses of kumihimo items.
6. Once you have mastered the kumihimo technique, comment on Proverbs 12:17: “An honest witness tells the truth, but a false witness tells lies.”
