Renewable Energy

Overview

Renewable resources include sunlight, wind, the movement of water and geothermal heat. Although most renewable energy sources are sustainable, some are not. Learn more about its role in environment conservation in this honor.

Requirements

1. What are renewable energies? What is their role in environmental conservation?

2. Define the following types of energy, citing the advantages and disadvantages of each:

  • a. Solar energy
  • b. Wind energy
  • c. Hydrogen
  • d. Biofuels
  • e. Hydropower
  • f. Tidal energy
  • g. Blue energy
  • h. Geothermal energy

3. What is non-renewable energy? How can this type of energy harm the environment?

4. What is the role of solar energy in obtaining other types of energy?

5. For some renewable energies, the location of the power plant is a crucial factor in its performance. How can the location influence performance?

6. What social and environmental impacts can be caused by the implementation of some renewable energy plants?

7. Choose an operational renewable energy plant and write a report containing the following:

  • a. Name and location
  • b. Energy generation capacity
  • c. Type of energy
  • d. Advantages and disadvantages of the energy type
  • e. Environmental and social impact of implementation

8. Research and practice at least three ways to save energy in your home, school, or workplace.

9. According to Revelation 11:18, what will happen to those who destroy the earth?
