Ribbon Embroidery

Overview

Learn how to embroider using ribbons.

Requirements

1. Research and summarize the history of ribbon embroidery: where and when did the art originate?

2. Make a list and have the materials needed for ribbon embroidery.

3. Learn, practice, and demonstrate the following steps to prepare for work:

  • a. Securing the ribbon in the needle
  • b. Flat knot

4. Learn, practice, and demonstrate the following techniques:

  • a. Ties (at least 5 types)
  • b. French and Colonial knots
  • c. Seams (at least 5 types)
  • d. Flower technique (at least 3 types)

5. Embroider a product (for example: a card, picture, doily, towel or bag).
