Sketchbooks and Notepads
Overview
Learn how to design and construct your own notebooks and sketchbooks, combining craftsmanship, creativity, and practical bookbinding skills to produce functional and artistic handmade books.
Requirements
1. Explain what a sketchbook is and how a sketchbook differs from a notebook.
2. List the types of covers used for sketchbooks and notebooks.
3. List the types of paper used for sketchbooks and notebooks.
4. Name at least three methods of binding pages together.
5. List the materials used to make and decorate sketchbooks and notebooks.
6. Create at least three sketchbooks or notebooks using three different binding methods (one of them must be “stitching”) and three different types of covers. Include internal pockets in one of the sketchbooks. Use different decorative elements to embellish the covers.
