Colorado became a state on the 1st of August of 1876, the 38th state to join the Union.

The Colorado state flower is the Rocky Mountain Columbine (Aquilegia saximontana), also known as Alpine Dwarf Columbine, Dwarf Blue Columbine, or Alpine Columbine.

Colorado has two state songs: “Where the Columbines Grow” written and composed by A.J. Fynn, and was adopted on May 8, 1915; “Rocky Mountain High” written by John Denver and Mike Taylor.
The motto is “Nil sine numine” (Nothing without providence).
