Symbols of Australia
Overview
Emblems play an important part in daily life – for example in commercial, political and religious areas. Do you know the Coat of Arms of the State or Territory in which you reside? Do you know by which animal, bird and flower the State or Territory in which you live is known? Do you know the Coat of Arms of the Capital City of the State or Territory in which you reside? Do you know what is the symbol of Jesus Christ as the dying lamb represents? Can you explain the history of the development of the Coat of Arms for the State or Territory in which you reside?

7. Describe what other symbols are applicable for the State and Territory in which you reside.
8. Describe the symbolism of the flags of the indigenous peoples of Australia and when they were adopted.
9. Describe the design and history of the Coat of Arms for the Capital City of the State or Territory in which you reside.
10. What is the meaning of the motto displayed on the Coat of Arms for the State and Capital City in which you reside?
11. Make a list of items that could be used as symbols to represent your family and explain how those symbols are relevant to your family.
