Bushcraft
Requirements
1. Research and describe the meaning of the term Bushcraft.
2. Prepare a list of edible wild species from your region.
3. Explain why we should not consume vegetables/mushrooms found in nature without knowing about them.
4. Learn methods for finding the cardinal directions in different situations, such as night, day, and cloudy skies.
5. Participate in Bushcraft-style camping.
6. Assemble and use a survival kit with at least 10 items while camping.
7. Complete the following while camping:
- a. Collect, store, and purify water for consumption at camp.
- b. Use two different types of fires to prepare food.
- c. Use three of the following methods to light one of the fires: bow, hand drill, flint and steel, magnifying glass or piece of glass, bag of water, steel wool, and battery.
- d. Use a stove to cook one of the meals.
- e. Collect and prepare food found in the wild.
- f. Improvise cooking utensils and use them on one day of camping.
8. Complete three of the following requirements:
- a. Build a raised bed.
- b. Prepare a natural shelter and use it for one night at camp.
- c. Make rope using natural materials.
- d. Build a pioneer table.
- e. Make torches and use them at night.
- f. Build a makeshift shower.
