Bushcraft: Answer Key
1. Research and describe the meaning of the term Bushcraft.
2. Prepare a list of edible wild species from your region.
3. Explain why we should not consume vegetables/mushrooms found in nature without knowing about them.
4. Learn methods for finding the cardinal directions in different situations, such as night, day, and cloudy skies.
5. Participate in Bushcraft-style camping.
6. Assemble and use a survival kit with at least 10 items while camping.
7. Complete the following while camping:
7a. Collect, store, and purify water for consumption at camp.
7b. Use two different types of fires to prepare food.
7c. Use three of the following methods to light one of the fires: bow, hand drill, flint and steel, magnifying glass or piece of glass, bag of water, steel wool, and battery.
7d. Use a stove to cook one of the meals.
7e. Collect and prepare food found in the wild.
7f. Improvise cooking utensils and use them on one day of camping.
8. Complete three of the following requirements:
8a. Build a raised bed.
8b. Prepare a natural shelter and use it for one night at camp.
8c. Make rope using natural materials.
8d. Build a pioneer table.
8e. Make torches and use them at night.
8f. Build a makeshift shower.
