Paper Quilling
Overview
Get ready to turn simple strips of paper into incredible designs! This honor introduces the creative world of paper quilling, where carefully rolled, shaped, and curled paper is combined to create flowers, pictures, ornaments, and detailed artwork. It transforms ordinary strips of paper into colorful works of art. You’ll learn precision, patience, creativity, and a whole collection of techniques that allow you to build everything from tiny decorative shapes to flowers, pictures, and ornaments. By the end, you’ll be able to take a flat piece of paper and turn it into something surprisingly detailed and beautiful!
Requirements
1. What was paper quilling called when the craft first began?
2. Know the history of quilling.
3. Know the tools used in quilling
4. Know and be able to correctly make each of the following rolls:
- a. Tight Circle
- b. Loose Circle
- c. Teardrop
- d. Shaped Teardrop
- e. Marquise
- f. Shaped Marquise
- g. Crescent
- h. Square
- i. Rectangle
- j. Triangle
- k. Bunny Ear
- l. Half Circle
- m. Rolled Heart (Arrow)
- n. Holly Leaf
5. Know and be able to correctly make each of the following scrolls:
- a. Loose Scroll
- b. Open Heart
- c. V Scroll
- d. S Scroll
- e. C Scroll
6. Make a simple floral design by using at least three of the methods above.
7. Make a filled-in picture or ornament.
